Case Study

GM Holden 11 kV Switchboard Modifications

Dismantling and strip down of 11Kv switchboards to allow replacement of damaged internal components.

Outline of Nilsen Scope of Works

  • Arrange and conduct switchgear specific training with overseas trainers to provide a dedicated highly skilled team suiting customer requirements.
  • Dismantle existing switchboards and switches down to basic frame to allow specific component replacement.
  • Arrange and coordinate subcontractors to ensure fluent implementation of project.
  • Development of a hour by hour project plans.
  • Create detailed commissioning plans for pre-works and post works commissioning.

Specific Project Obstacles to Overcome

  • Works occurring over 24/7 being extremely time critical so vehicle production id not interrupted.
  • Switchboards are located on platforms that have very little access.
  • Development of timing plans that ensure every hour of the work is used effectively.

Nilsen Innovations

  • Review and further refinement of the works program to reduce customer outages.
