Between September 2012 and October 2013 Nilsen carried out the MRH90 Simulator Project in Townsville for principal contractor Abi-Group.
With the removal of the Blackhawk Helicopter fleet from service, the Australian Department of Defence is set to receive over forty new MRH90 Transport Helicopters to be based at Oakey and Townsville. The MRH90’s are touted to be the most advanced tactical troop transport helicopter of the 21st Century; capable of carrying two pilots, two loadmasters and 18 combat troops up to 900km at speeds of up to 300km/h.
As part of the training regime for this new fleet, state-of-the-art simulators have been installed to enhance the training and skills of both the pilots and air crew.
Specifically, the MRH90 Project in Townsville is a Simulator Building which houses the simulator as well as offices, training rooms and crew facilities. This high-tech building is small in nature yet full of features.

The total Australian component of the MRH90 program will create more than 400 new jobs in Australia over the next 10 years, with Nilsen now having taken up a portion of this statistic.
