Nilsen Contracting Division awarded Next DC M1 – Solar Panel Installation

Next DC are building Australia’s largest privately owned rooftop photovoltaic solar system at their Port Melbourne Data Centre M1 facility. There will be 400 kW of solar panels (1,600 individual panels) installed which will generate approximately 550 megawatt of electricity per year which is 25% of the energy required to power the facility “off-grid”, this will also offset over 670 tonnes of CO² a year which is the equivalent of taking 200 cars off the road.

Nilsen’s completed the original M1 facility late 2012, and was awarded repeat business for this project by Next DC which we are extremely proud off. Nilsen will carry out the electrical works associated with the installation of the solar panels, which also includes:

• Modification to the existing 6 x Main Switchboards previously supplied by Nilsen
• Supply and installation of 6 x Photovoltaic Distribution Boards
