Nilsen Contracting Division awarded Interactive Data Centre

Interactive IT Systems is to spend in excess of $65 Million over the next 16 months building a new Data Centre adjacent to their current facility in Port Melbourne. The new facility is a mission critical facility designed to operate continuously 24/7.

Tier 3 principles (N+1) have been adopted in the electrical systems for the Data Centre. The new facility is a continued investment to support the demand for Interactive’s cloud computing and managed services and will support an additional 300 staff following completion.

Nilsen’s recognition of experience in being able to deliver highly technical data centres was the main selection criteria by Interactive IT Systems and their builder Vaughan Constructions in awarding Nilsen the contract. Nilsen will carry out all electrical works, communications, fibre, lighting control and switchboard manufacture.

Technical Details associated with the scope:

  • 2 x 2000 kVA Citipower Transformer Supplies
  • 2 x 2000 kVA Diesel Generators
  • 4 x 500 kVA Static Uninterruptable Power Supplies
  • 2 x Main Switchboards
  • 1 x Generator Switchboard
  • 9 x Input/Output UPS Dist Boards
  • 9 x ATS Distribution Boards
  • 6 x PDU Distribution Boards

Nilsen have made the Data Centre market in Melbourne one of their core focuses, and are currently working on three other Data Centres concurrently to this project.
