The Bendigo Hospital Project is the largest infrastructure project to be undertaken in the Bendigo region. The Project will facilitate the delivery of enhanced health services to the Loddon-Mallee Region for many years to come. The Project will provide a new hospital with expanded capacity including an integrated cancer centre and new psychiatric inpatient unit. The hospital will equip Bendigo Health to provide for the future health needs and increasing demands of a growing population in Bendigo and in the Loddon-Mallee Region. It will assist Bendigo Health to attract a high quality skilled workforce for the future provision of high quality patient care.
The Bendigo Hospital Project is a $630 million Public Private Partnership (PPP) project for the Department of Health and is being delivered by Exemplar Health (Capella/Lend Lease/Siemens/Spotless Services).
The Project provides the opportunity to develop a new regional hospital in Bendigo, the Project comprises the following:
It will generate more than 770 construction industry jobs, with at least 300 jobs maintained for a minimum of three years during the peak construction period for the hospital.
The new hospital will have 372 beds and 10 operating theatres, an integrated cancer centre and mental health unit and a helipad connected by bridge link to the main hospital.
The new hospital will provide 80 mental health beds, including a 35-bed adult psychiatric unit, a 20-bed aged psychiatric unit, a five bed mother and baby unit and a 20-bed secure extended care unit.
