In March 2011 Nilsen completed a contract for Hutchinson for the Maroochydore Government Office Building on the Sunshine Coast, just over an hour north of Brisbane. This new Queensland Government building comprised of 12 levels of base building at a Greenstar accreditation of 5-Stars as well as fit-out of 9 Levels to 6-Stars.

As principal contractor for the project, Nilsen provided a 6-Star flexible and accountable electrical installation to accommodate multiple tenancies on each floor. This included:

  • LV Distribution
  • UPS and Generator Supply
  • Photovoltaic (Solar)
  • Metering
  • Daylight Harvesting
  • General / Emergency Lighting and Power

Some of the initiatives requested in the project included an air-conditioning system with energy recovery, thermal storage and off-peak cooling, intelligent lighting controls and water efficient appliances. Nilsen effectively ensured minimal energy usage was achieved without compromising efficiency in all of these areas.
