Berth 10 Container Terminal at Port of Brisbane
Berth 10 Container Terminal at Port of Brisbane

In early 2008, Nilsen were awarded the contract for the electrical installation of HV & LV Power System Equipment for the Berth 10 (Stage 1) Development Project at Patrick’s Fisherman Islands Terminal at Port of Brisbane.

The client required higher electrical load demands for the planned increase of ‘Reefer’ points. Nilsen achieved this by connecting an additional HV / LV distribution substation to the existing two substations to form an ‘open-ring’ network.

Specific scope items supplied and installed by Nilsen included:

  • High Voltage Substation
  • Low Voltage Mains to Site
  • Low Voltage Switchboards
  • Outdoor Reefer Distribution Boards
  • Outdoor Oil Transformer
  • Power Factor Correction Unit
  • Outdoor Street Lighting
  • Lighting Control
  • Lighting Reticulation / Outdoor High Mast Lighting Boards
  • Communications / Data Room
  • Provided and maintained Temporary Services

One of the key achievements of the Nilsen team on this particularly unique site was the installation, testing and commissioning of high voltage ring main unit (RMU).

This was the most involved High Energy project completed by Nilsen since opening their Brisbane office in 2005.
