Vic Police Forensic Service Centre is an existing building built in the 1970s and used for all kinds of testing and providing evidence for crimes committed. We had the challenging job of replacing a main switchboard with minimum interruption of power supply so Victoria police could keep operating. We achieved this task without any problems.
  1. Design, build and install new main switchboard, mechanical and distribution boards.
  2. Installed new mains, submains and sub circuits from substation to boards to equipment.
  3. Brought existing switch room up to current building and fire codes.
  4. Relocated battery banks on main UPS system without interruption to Victoria police systems.

Obstacles to overcome

  1. Floor support for needed to be re-engineered for the new main switchboard.
  2. Project was completed using 7 different locations with temporary generator power supplies as requested by Victoria police which ran over multiple days.
  3. Designing the logic plc control for house generator to be able to load shed if there were to be a power outage.
  4. Relocating an existing underfloor air conditioning system under the slab for the new main switchboard to fit inside the room.
