The new single building Royal Adelaide Hospital replaced the multiple building 175 year old original Royal Adelaide Hospital as South Australia’s largest multi specialist facility.

The opening took place during September 2017, following 6 years of construction, in the north western Health Precinct of the CBD. The 800-bed hospital provides treatment for approximately 85,000 inpatients every year, with construction paying heed to the new methodology of related services in close proximity, for example, the ED is positioned below critical areas on other floors, such as pathology and blood transfusion, trauma and emergency theatres, the Intensive Care Unit and the helipad. Nilsen Networks provides a comprehensive range of maintenance services around the Lighting installation, including LV lighting allowing for daylight harvesting, emergency lighting monitoring and testing, lighting control, LED upgrades and controls inspections. In addition to the Planned Preventative Maintenance, we also handle all Reactive Maintenance. To manage this, Nilsen Networks provides 24/7 support for out of hours breakdowns. In the provision of these services, we are closely aligned with the onsite Spotless Facility Management team to work seamlessly within an operating major tertiary hospital, ensuring our service offering does not disrupt functions normally provided within the hospital.

The RAH has been awarded a 4 Star Green Star – Healthcare Design v1 rating, making it the largest and most technically complex Green Star project in Australia. The hospital was originally designed to achieve a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to equivalent hospitals, and we are constantly working on potential LED upgrades to improve these reductions even further.
