In December 2016 Nilsen secured the Early Works Electrical package at the iconic Queen’s Wharf project in the Brisbane CBD with winning builder Probuild. Work will begin in January 2017 on the world‑class integrated resort development that will put Brisbane firmly on the map as a tourism, leisure and entertainment destination.

The Early Works phase of the landmark project involves the removal of three major non-heritage Government buildings at 80 George Street, 100 George Street, and the Neville Bonner building at 75 William Street, which have already been vacated due to government staff relocation to the new 1 William Street government tower.

Key scope items in Nilsen’s package include:

• Temporary Electrical services
• Isolation of Electrical Services within existing government buildings to be demolished
• Services Diversions within the site and Heritage Buildings
• Installation of High Voltage pits, pad mounted transformer slabs, and uniculverts

The Queen’s Wharf development will transform the Queensland capital’s BD and river edge with its stunning subtropical design. Not only will the project see the creation of around 2,000 jobs during the peak construction period but it will also create more than 8,000 jobs in Queensland once fully operational.

Queen’s Wharf Early Works marks the second time Nilsen been awarded a Probuild project in Queensland in as many years, with Nilsen currently on site completing the Jupiters Infrastructure Project on the Gold Coast.

Nilsen are positively seeking to secure further works on the Queen’s Wharf site, with greater project works running through to 2024.
