Construction commenced in 2011 and is due for completion in April 2016. The Hospital has 175,000m2 of functional area, 50,000m2 of carparking area, 40 tech suites, 800 x single patient bedrooms and 8,174 rooms in total.
Nilsen contract value is $175M with the scope of works including 6 x 2.5Mva 11 KV Standby Generators, 16 x 2Mva 11Kv Transformers, 800 x LV Switchboards, 43,000 x Lights, 45,000 x Gpo’s, 1200 x Medical Service Panels, 33,000 x Cat 7A data outlets and associated cabling infrastructure. Nilsen project labour peaked at 450 tradesmen and associated project support.
Being the only Tier 1 Disaster Recover Hospital in South Australia the project design calls for multiple levels of service redundancy resulting in the Hospital having the capacity to run for 48 hours in full island mode. The project brief also includes a requirement for all services to remain functional after a 1 in 500 year seismic event and this necessitated extensive engineering and testing of all systems and equipment mounting arrangements.
