Iconic South Australian packaging company Detmold Group are manufacturing 145 million respirator and surgical masks from their manufacturing plant in Adelaide to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

18 dedicated surgical mask production lines are to be installed into a retrofitted building at the Detmold Group facilities in Brompton, South Australia.

Through our long standing working relationship, Detmold Group reached out to Nilsen for urgent support on this project.

Nilsen’s experience and knowledge was utilised to rapidly establish Detmold Group’s manufacturing facility.

Scope of Works

• Perform data logging services and provide energy report to ascertain power requirements for the new machines
• Design, manufacture and installation of a Nilsen 1250A IP56 Outdoor Switchboard
• Decommissioning of existing redundant cable installation
• Hydrovac trenching for underground cable installation
• Supply and installation of all underground conduits and cabling
• Installation of all above ground cable ladder and supports
• Supply and installation of all above ground cabling
• Retrofitting end of life circuit breakers in an existing switchboard, with new circuit breakers, including the onsite modification of busbar assemblies
• Perform testing and commissioning of the total electrical system.

With such a critically urgent project, the agility of Nilsen coupled with the ability to provide a total electrical turnkey solution, Nilsen successfully delivered this project within the short timescale permitted allowing our nation to produce it’s own medical supplies.
