Exchange is the first precinct to be delivered at Curtin University’s Perth Campus in response to the Greater Curtin Master Plan. Sitting just 6km from the CBD, Exchange forms a new urban heart in Perth’s south. Nilsen overcame multiple challenges including State of Emergency and COVID-19 restrictions to successfully complete the project in December 2021.

The precinct is designed to bring together education, industry, and community – encouraging and facilitating the sharing of knowledge, ideas, creativity and serving as a catalyst for innovation and progress.

Designed to support collaboration and showcase creativity and innovation, these multi-story buildings include a diverse range of technology-rich learning spaces in addition to a marketspace, exhibition area, workspace for students & staff, industry and retail space and stunning courtyards.

It includes:

• Two student accommodation buildings with 750 student beds.
• Third building housing 40 apartments and 60 hotel rooms
• 57,400m2 of combined GFA

Nilsen Scope of Works:

• Supply high voltage substations connected to the Curtin HV network supplying 2 construction sites for 16 months eliminating any issues to the existing Curtin LV Infrastructure and allowing the project to advance from Day 1.
• High Voltage Works; Transformer, RMU, and Metering
• All Lighting, including intelligent Lighting control
• Power and Distribution boards
• Communications Network integrating into the overarching Curtin Network
• Solar, integrating into the Curtin Network
• Energy Management System Wiring and commissioning integrating into the overarching Curtin Network
