The project provided facilities for the new P-8A Poseidon aircraft to replace the P3-C Orion aircraft. Nilsen’s work commenced in June 2016 and concluded in December 2020. Nilsen were engaged to complete the High Voltage, Communications and Low Voltage installation scope of works.

HV PACKAGE

New HV ring between two existing substations. Civil works associated with above HV ring. Miscellaneous HV Investigation and verification works associated with demolition works.

COMMUNICATIONS PACKAGE

New communications infrastructure to accommodate new precinct and upgrade of existing facilities. Civil Works associated with above infrastructure. Various demolition and re-diversion works around site.

LV INSTALLATION PACKAGE 2

Electrical works associated with the new OCF building, including switchboards, submain cables, earthing, cable support systems, distribution boards, general lighting and power, UPS, emergency and exit lighting and lighting control. PV Solar system of OCF building. Provision of lighting for car parks. Electrical works within existing Fire Station. Demolition and diversion works of LV supplies. Lighting and general power including relocation of existing submain and distribution board. Earthing and lightning protection at ARDU Shelter. Lightning protection at Aircraft Rinse Facility. Demolition works associated with existing Aircraft Rinse Facility.

This job demonstrated all of Nilsen’s capabilities with Contracting leading Engineering services assisting in commissioning of the HV infrastructure, Networks completing the lighting control, Switchboards in delivering quality switchboards to the Operational Control facility. A true One Nilsen project.

Staged handovers to enable end user fit outs created many complexities however the project team including Nilsen met each deliverable on time. This was well received with ongoing and new works awarded to Nilsen by the end user and additional stages of scope added by Lend Lease continuing our partnership.
